Once you have the file open delete all embedded macros. Google for it - if Calc needs Java presumably Excel needs Java too. (Sorry, image attachements here don't come up in the right order, but guessing which belongs to which text above is easy, right?) OO always says "has no java", although it's right there: Oh, I guess I should add, yes of course I tried to click the "Add" button and SHOW OO explicitely where Java is installed (despite that it's installed in its default location anyway). Well, I know about the radio button issue, but there is none, no entry, at all, it's white like washed with oxy action: I reckon you don't mean that "OO calc JRE combination only works when No AV and No Win10 Defender stuff is active"? (The goal is to only use Ubuntu to access the internet, and there's little risk associated with that then) And the only AV is Win10's own Defender stuff. So, the downloads go all to -Downloads on my system. The attachment oo_java.png is no longer available (it's not exactly for the public domain, lol) Just not having it to upload to zamzar and stuff. Has anyone had such issue in the past, and found a way to solve it?Įven only a quick way to turn the bank's xls files into csv would help. Something in the formatting maybe, that (understandably) is different between Excel and OO Calc? ![]() I cannot unfortunately say WHY OO cannot open these xls files from the bank only (so far), since OO closes right after clicking away those three error boxes. and on a borrowed laptop with unpaid office, from a friend, these downloaded xls files DO open normally. and the ONE file I always download from the bank, is an xls all xls AND xlsx that I opened, don't cause the JRE message (which, when it comes, does not allow to open OO at all, it closes right away) Robleyd wrote:Just to clarify - this is happening when you attempt to open a (any?) Excel file? What flavour of Excel. I am getting these error messages: (attached) In the images others have posted, one would point OO to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_281, and I did. Where it allows me to help OO find JRE, it isn't accepting any of the folders:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_281\binĬ:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_281\legalĬ:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_281\lib ![]() ![]() Under installed Apps I can see that JRE 32bit IS installed. I do not (knowingly) use wizards or such, merely open the bank's Excel account statements. Now I reinstalled the entire OO, as a "repair", no improvement. Now I reinstalled the 32bit JRE, no improvement. JRE 32 bit, the correct "middle" version highlighted in that "image" in other threads, had been installed along with OO from the start. I don't know if this is because of some update of OO or of other parts of my system. Now recently however, OO started to prompt me "JRE cannot be found". My current OO installation too has already been working well in the past. In the past, OO Calc has always been able to read all my files of that format. When I have to open statements from the bank, they come as Excel files unfortunately.
